Three Isolations Meditation Retreat

Khentrul Rinpoche kindly has given permission and Ven. Tenpa’i Gyaltsen kindly has agreed to lead a strict 45 day Three Isolation Retreat for students of Khentrul Rinpoche at the beautiful Kalapa retreat center in Graz. This retreat is a rare opportunity to practice in a similar way to how monks and yogis practice during a traditional 3 year retreat. This retreat will help students achieve Shamatha and the three isolations as a ground for entering into the Kalachakra completion stage of the Six Vajra Yogas. The 6 week retreat includes weekly Q/A sessions as well as weekly 15 min personal interviews with Ven. Tenpa’i Gyaltsen to discuss meditation progress and help alleviate obstacles to the practice.

The retreat will start on new moon day Sept. 17th and will finish with an extensive Guru Puja and Kalachakra Tsok on full moon day Oct. 31st.

19.973€ of 30.375€ raised

In order to make this retreat as accessible as possible, we are requesting financial support from sponsors who are willing to contribute to the costs of providing food and board for approximately 15 participants. To fully cover the costs of the retreat, we estimate we will need to raise a total amount of 30.375,00 €. This corresponds to approximately 45 € per person per day for the full duration of the retreat (45 days stay in small dorms with 2 meals per day as well as extensive offerings made throughout the retreat).

Our generosity-based model depends on your support to create the conditions for us to hold events and offer them freely to others. Any donations that we receive above the requested sponsorship goal will be donated to the Suchandra Annual Fund as support for future events, community projects and general organizational costs. Like this, we encourage you to give whatever you can so that we can continue to make the Dharma accessible to all.

Donation Total: 700,00€

As a way to show our appreciation to the teacher for offering his time and energy to share the profound Dharma with us, there will be an opportunity at the end of the retreat for individuals to practice generosity and express their gratitude in the form of a personal financial offering. You can also contribute to his work by making an online donation here:

Ordained Sangha Fund

Our ordained sangha members serve the community by guiding practice groups, leading our volunteer staff and supporting the spiritual development of our members. With your generosity, we will be able to provide for all of the necessary costs such as food, shelter, health insurance, social insurance and other recurring monthly expenses.

It is our aspiration to be able to fully support one ordained sangha member for the next year. We estimate that we will need 12000€ to achieve this aim. If you are able to give, please support this fund.

Donation Total: 25,00€ One Time

The retreat will be in English.

All participants must have completed the Kalachakra Ngöndro (or their equivalent) and must have received the Higher Empowerments of Kalachakra with instructions for the Three Isolations from Khentrul Rinpoche. All participants have to be approved by Ven. Tenpa’i Gyaltsen based on a personal video interview.

The retreat will be closed and in complete silence. Participants are not allowed to leave the boundaries of the retreat centre, no visitors, no computers, no mobile phones. Throughout the entire retreat participants will live like monastics and observe the 8 Mahayana Precepts on a daily basis. Participants who break any of the rules or generate disharmony in the group will be asked to leave the retreat.

To apply for this retreat, please register below for the duration of time that you wish to participate. Once registered, you will be contacted to set up an interview with Ven. Tenpa’i Gyaltsen.
